GENERAL RULES
The Croatian World Games (referred to as the Games from here on out) shall be conducted under the following General Rules as approved by the Games' organizing committee (OC) and the Executive committee of the Croatian World Congress (CWC).
1.Application
1.1. All participants must be of Croatian origin and can only compete for their country of residence, having been a resident for the last three years at the time of application.
1.2. All applications will be treated on an individual basis and are independent of membership in athletic or cultural clubs / institutions. Applications can be submitted over the official Games website www.zadar2010.com or via the National committees. The OC of the Games has the exclusive authority over the selection process.
1.3 Filing an application confers no right of acceptance and as such any application is subject to rejection by the OC of the Games.
1.4. Applications from the first application period (June 15th, 2009 - November 30th, 2009) have priority of the application fee is paid within 30 days from the day the OC has confirmed the application. Participation in the Games will be confirmed not before September 1st, 2009 and not later than December 15th, 2009. The second application period will be opened only for the available vacant spots and disciplines. After the expiration of the first application period the OC has the option to withdraw from the program disciplines that have attracted low interest.
1.5 All participants are required to submit additional application forms which will be sent by the OC at a later date.
1.6 Athletes under 18 years of age are required to turn in a parental permission form which has to be signed by parents of care taker and verified by a legal notary.
2. Quota and qualifications
2.1 For individual disciplines each country is entitled to a certain number of participants. In the event that we receive a large number of applications, participants will be selected by a random drawing.
2.2. For team disciplines, in general, each country is entitled to one team only. The OC highly recommends qualifying tournaments or games wherever they are necessary and possible to stage. In case a qualifying tournament has already been announced, individual applications for the same discipline will not be considered.
2.3. Qualifying tournaments or games will be announced on the official web pages of the Games in a timely fashion and will be promoted by the National committees through local media.
2.4 In special cases the OC has the right to allow teams from the same country (same discipline).
2.5 The OC has the possibility to form teams from individual applications. In case of a large number of teams (without qualifiers) or a large number of individual applications, participants will be selected by a random drawing.
2.6 Participation in the U-16 soccer discipline is possible only by invitation and therefore the above listed articles do not apply here.
2.7 The delegations of Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina will be formed according to separate rules that will be published by the OC in early 2010.
3. Participation fee
3.1. The participation fee for participants is 385 Euros and includes:
- participation in the Games
- participation in the opening and closing ceremonies
- full accommodation
- athletic and team equipment
- free entrance to all Games sites
- free entrance for the complete entertainment program
- free transportation within the Games system
- lifelong CWG membership
3.2. CWG members (2006 Games) are entitled to a 10 % discount.
3.3. In coordination with the OC, National committees have the possibility to obtain athletic gear and team equipment independently. In such cases the application fee will be adjusted adequately.
3.4. The application fee for participants with individual accommodation arrangements is 150 Euros (only approved in special cases).
3.5. In case of withdrawal, 85% of the application fee is refundable until May 15th, 2010. After the deadline the application fee becomes non-refundable.
3.6. All travel expenses outside the official Games transportation system are the sole responsibility of athletes (travel arrangements to Croatia or public transportation).
4. Registration
4.1. Participant registration starts on July 17, 2010 at 10.00 a.m. and finishes at 8 p.m..
4.2. All participants have to leave the sports village (accommodation) by July 24th, 2010, not later than 11 a.m.
4.3. The OC will decide upon the accommodation arrangements within the sports village, depending on the needs of the delegations (2 to 6 participants per bungalow).
4.4 All Games participants are required to attend the official program in full extent (athletic discipline or staff position, opening and closing ceremony, meetings within the teams or delegations).
5. Athletes
5.1. To be eligible, an athlete must be at least 16 years old on the opening day of the Games, except in the U-16 soccer discipline. Participants of veteran disciplines must be at least 35 years old.
5.2. Athletes may only compete in one discipline, except for disciplines where several categories exist (for example swimming 50m crawl and 100m freestyle, tennis singles and doubles).
6. Coaches and referees
6.1. To be eligible to participate, coaches and referees must be at least 30 years old on the opening day of the Games. License and experience are mandatory.
6.2. Coaches and referees can apply for one discipline only.
7. Representatives
7.1. To be eligible to participate, representatives must be at least 36 years old on the opening day of the Games. Experience handling groups is mandatory.
7.2. Representatives can apply for the country of residence only.
The OC retains the right to change the General Rules at any time.
